New Japan Pro Wrestling has provided an update on their U.S. visa situation. In short, they now have them.
This is vital news for the promotion as they required the visas in order to send their Japanese stars to work the G1 Supercard event on April 6th. As the event takes place in New York City over WrestleMania weekend, having none of their Japanese talent would have been extremely bad news.
This is news due to the situation that occurred during New Japan’s recent tour of the United States. Because of the U.S. government shutdown, New Japan was unable to process their visas. As a result, their shows in Nashville, Charlotte, and Los Angeles featured virtually no Japanese talent. Many people were quite upset by the situation as they paid money to see stars like Ishii and Nagata. Instead, they were treated to a show featuring mostly American indie wrestlers.
New Japan Pro Wrestling now has no roadblocks in front of them for the G1 Supercard. At this time the show only has one official match. That being the Guerrillas of Destiny vs. The Briscoes with both the ROH and IWGP Tag Team Championships on the line. The card is expected to be stacked as New Japan and Ring of Honor are reportedly looking to pull out all the stops to have a standout show.
