In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Roman Reigns was asked about his feelings towards fellow Shield member Dean Ambrose leaving WWE when his contract expires in April. During which, Reigns discussed how he received the news, how seriously he took it on board, and what he makes of it.
“I think I actually read it on Twitter so I didn’t take it too seriously,” Reigns told reporters. “I’ve always known Ambrose and he likes to stay unpredictable and march to the beat of his own drum.
“I know one thing, he just wants to be happy. He’s kind of been preparing for when he doesn’t have to rely on anybody. We’ve been lucky enough to be on a crazy roller-coaster ride over the last few years and secure ourselves.”
Reigns recently returned to the ring following time off to deal with his leukemia. Fightful.com‘s Sean Ross Sapp reported earlier this year that WWE was hoping for the ‘Big Dog’ to talk Dean down and get him to stay.
According to Reigns, however, those conversations have yet to take place. He even hinted that he may not want to have them at all.
“It still is a big shock and we haven’t had much time to talk about it because we’ve been on the gas pedal since I’ve been back.
“It concerns me a bit – the last thing I want is for one of my good friends to leave but as long as he’s happy and healthy we’ll be good.
“We’ll still talk all the time but this is WWE and you never know what’s going to happen.”
The Shield reunited on Raw this week with Ambrose saving Reigns and Seth Rollins from a three-on-two beatdown at the hands of Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre & Bobby Lashley. The two teams are set to face off at WWE Fastlane this Sunday.
