Fighftul is saying on NXT’s Media Call, Triple H confirmed that an NXT Takeover show will be taking place in San Jose on June 8th. This is something that WrestleVotes revealed weeks ago, but ”The Game” has officially confirmed it today.
Traditionally NXT Takeover events take place the night before one of WWE’s ‘big five’ main roster pay-per-views, with the exception of NXT Takeover: New York which is to take place two nights before WrestleMania as not to clash with the Ring of Honor and NJPW’s G1 Supercard. NXT’s upcoming show on June 8th will be unique in that it will be a ‘stand alone show’, with no pay-per-view taking place the night before.
Whilst we are looking forward to NXT Takeover: San Jose, our attentions are firmly focused on NXT Takeover: New York in just eight days, where Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano are set to do battle over the vacant NXT Championship in a two out of three falls match. The inclusion of a ‘stand alone’ show might indicate WWE’s intentions to hold more NXT Takeover events and make the brand more of a third show than a developmental one.
