Last night on Raw, Bray Wyatt made his long-awaited return from injury/sabbatical in a polarizing pre-taped funhouse segment that seemed to be inspired by everything from Mr. Rogers to Blue’s Clues.
Those complaining about Wyatt’s previous ‘Eater of Worlds’ character having grown stale and boring could have no complaints about this. The character was certainly different, that’s for sure.
In the segment, Wyatt talked about the death of his old persona, giving a visual demonstration of its end by taking a chainsaw to a cardboard cutout of himself. He also introduced several new players to his, erm, act, including a naff puppet called Mercy The Buzzard and a creepy wooded doll called Penny The Witch.
As you might expect with something so outside of the box, fan response to this striking change was mixed. Some applauded WWE and Wyatt for coming up with something new and interesting whilst others, predictably, ripped it apart without giving it a chance.
Seemingly in response to the criticisms and comments, Wyatt posted the following cryptic message on Twitter earlier today:
To see a ghost, you have to believe in it.
It saddens me that you all missed so much. 😢
Oh well maybe next time.

What is Bray talking about? It’s hard to say with him, but it does seem to be a response to the reaction his segment received. Let’s hope WWE sticks with it and lets it play out before pulling the plug too quickly as they have with other things that fans have criticised.
