Tonight on Smackdown, Aleister Black’s opponent for the upcoming Extreme Rules pay-per-view will be revealed. The match on Sunday will serve as the culmination of weeks of promos where Black has been urging someone to come and challenge him.
After working together on house shows in recent weeks, some expect Randy Orton to be selected as the man to face Aleister Black in his first match on WWE TV since the April 15, episode of Raw.
However, the ever-reliable WrestleVotes tweeted last month stating that not only would Black be working the Extreme Rules pay-per-view, but that his opponent would be Raw Superstar Cesaro.
As of now, Aleister Black is scheduled to work Extreme Rules. I can’t 100% confirm his opponent, but as of earlier today WWE had decided on Cesaro. We’ll see.

The Twitter account followed up their initial report with a tweet last night that suggested plans might have changed.
While nothing was being reported as fact, WrestleVotes says that the planned match with Cesaro might have been changed due to the hirings of Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff to Raw and Smackdown respectively.
I’m told Cesaro was the original planned opponent for Aleister Black for Extreme Rules and in fact he may still be. This was however prior to Heyman & Bischoff coming back into the fold. No idea if they want something else instead. We will see.

This comes after it emerged that Raw’s Executive Director Paul Heyman has actually been working closely with the former NXT Champion.
There is no word on whether or not their relationship will see Black move over to Raw to continue his backstage work with Brock Lesnar’s advocate.
