Tonight on Smackdown Live, Chad Gable and Elias punched their tickets to the semifinals of the King of the Ring Tournament. Elias defeated Ali in the first of two KOR matches. Elias joins Baron Corbin, Samoa Joe, and Ricochet.
While many fans were hoping for Ali to advance, it was Elias who came out victorious. The match was nothing spectacular, but wasn’t terrible either.
The second match up of the night showcased Andrade with Zelina Vega versus Chad Gable. Earlier in the night, Chad Gable was confronted by Samoa Joe. Not surprisingly, Joe mad fun of Gable’s height. Before the match, Vega joined in on the fun of calling Gable short.
.@WWEGable is NOT letting the short jokes get to him and showing everyone just how great he is! #SDLive pic.twitter.com/n03BZV9gMd

This match was a little more entertaining than the previous. Gable hit a beautiful moonsault for a near fall. However, Vega would prove to be valuable as a manager. She was able to distract the referee during the match while Gable was covering for more than 3. Wrestling logic would say, Andrade was then sure to get the win. However, Gable hit a reversal into the most devastating move in WWE, a roll up. That was it. Gable advances in the tournament.
This has been a strange tournament so far. Next week, the semifinals take place when WWE returns to Madison Square Garden. Elias will face Gable and Samoa Joe, Corbin, and Ricochet will fight in a triple threat.
