UFC Star Reveals He Has Held Talks With Both WWE And AEW

Cain Velasquez reportedly trained at the WWE Performance Center in the summer of 2018. The UFC star had been quite vocal about his desire to transition into wrestling.

Velasquez made his wrestling debut for Lucha Libre AAA last month, impressing fans with his athletic offence.

However, Velasquez might not be staying with the Mexican-based promotion for too long as he has revealed that both WWE and AEW have expressed their interest in him

Speaking to Ariel Helwani, the 37-year-old revealed that he has held talks with both WWE and AEW about joining the promotions. He even said that his talks with Vince McMahon’s company are going rather well.

“We’ve been in talks with [WWE]. They’re going pretty good … We’ll see. I’ve talked to [AEW]. I’ve talked to him a little bit, so I want to talk to him a little more. I think they are doing great things. Now I that I’ve started watching a little more pro wrestling, I think AEW is doing some really cool things. And they have a good relationship with AAA as well, so they have a lot of guys going to AAA, and back to AEW. And AEW too does a lot of like, lucha stuff, you know. They do a lot of lucha wrestling, which I think is pretty cool. I really like what they’re doing as far as the wrestling aspect of it. I think they have really good athletes coming in, really good showmen. They’re making — they’re doing good things right now, yeah.”

Someone with the main-stream recognition like Cain Velasquez would be an excellent acquisition for either WWE or AEW. The UFC star could fit the sports-like feel of AEW, or even Smackdown on FOX.
