Change is afoot for the upcoming WWE Draft if reports are to be believed. We will no longer have Stephanie McMahon and whoever else happens to be in charge at that point standing there reading out random names, or the titantron cycling through jobbers until the big star is revealed as a draft pick.
Instead, and it would help if I had ever watched an NFL or NBA draft, it will work like an American Football draft, as representatives from FOX and the USA Network will be there in person to announce their picks.
The idea being that it will feel as authentic as possible, something particularly FOX is keen on with their more “sports-based” product.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said:
“So they’re gonna have reps from — it’s gonna be people who will be picking like a football draft. It’s not gonna be done like it’s done before. It’s gonna be a rep or reps from USA and a rep or reps from Fox that will be doing the picking as opposed to authority figures from WWE.”
“They don’t want authority figures right now so that’s how it’s gonna be.”
It has been reported that Heyman is high on Buddy Murphy and Aleister Black so look out for them making the switch to Monday nights.
