We all knew it was coming, but WWE legend Matt Hardy has confirmed he has left the company after not re-signing his contract.
He made the announcement on his YouTube channel last night, and thanked everyone at WWE for everything they have done for him.
“If it was not for Vince McMahon, I would not be able to attain the quality of life that I currently have.”
He described WWE as him “home”, but admitted that they weren’t currently on the same page creatively, and therefore he was left with no choice other than to leave.
Hardy rejoined WWE in 2017 along with his brother Jeff, and Matt said:
“The last three or four years I have as an in-ring competitor are really important to cementing my legacy.”
He noted that he was “positive” about returning to WWE one day in the future, and that “there is definitely a WWE Hall of Fame ring waiting on me and my brother.”
He finally mentioned that his “FreeTheDelete” YouTube series would have its final episodes this Wednesday, which would hint that he will be joining AEW, possibly debuting on this week’s Dynamite.
