If you are a fan of goofy jokes, announcers not being familiar with recent content, and accidentally undermining storylines with odd comments, then don’t worry, the Raw announce team will be bringing back a familiar face.
My new podcast is up now! @LawlerShow Talking Wrestlemania and my return to #RAW this Monday https://t.co/4ymsuogLGS
— Jerry Lawler (@JerryLawler) April 9, 2020
Jerry Lawler had been missing from the announce team while WWE had been taping shows from the performance center. Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton had been holding down the fort while Jerry had been away.
It was assumed The King was staying away because of his age and Coronavirus. However, it appears he’s heading back to the show.
When Jerry first came back to Raw, it took him a while to get going. Often, you could tell he wasn’t familiar with storylines or characters. He often made comments that didn’t align with a heel getting heat or a face trying to get over.
However, he certainly improved as he was getting more comfortable with the content. He certainly has a knack for one-liners.
One thing is for sure, we hope Jerry stays safe during this outbreak. His age combined with having had heart troubles in the past would put him at higher risk should he contract the virus.
Whatever the reason that’s bringing him back, having an extra voice when there is no crowd might make the show more entertaining. Welcome Back, Jerry.
