There have been question marks regarding the WWE status of Rob Gronkowski after he confirmed his return to the NFL this week.
According to Pro Football Talk, it doesn’t look like Gronk’s going to be active inside a WWE ring for quite some time per his contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In paragraph three of the Standard Players Contract, it says:
“[p]layer will not play football or engage in activities related to football otherwise than for Club or engage in any activity other than football which may involve a significant risk of personal injury.”
Of course it’s the latter portion of that statement that is key here, because if you didn’t realise, pro-wrestling is an activity that may indeed involve risk of injury.
Drew Rosenhaus, Gronk’s agent, has come out and confirmed that he’ll be fully honouring the contract, meaning he’s done with wrestling for now.
He is, however, still the current reigning WWE 24/7 Champion, so it’ll be interesting to see how WWE handles the situation with regards to that.
