It looks like a huge championship match that was set to take place on tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown may have been pulled from the show.
It was announced last week that, this week, AJ Styles would be defending the Intercontinental Title against Drew Gulak, after Gulak beat him a couple of weeks ago.
However, WWE has since removed that match from the preview section of its website, so it may have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 situation.
Several people in WWE have tested positive for COVID-19 over the last few days, and while it doesn’t necessarily mean either Styles or Gulak did, with SmackDown being taped today, it’s possible one of or both of them isn’t going to travel.
Another segment that was set but is no longer on the preview was Sheamus’ ‘Toast to Jeff Hardy’. The only thing being advertised as of this writing is a full airing of the Undertaker vs AJ Styles boneyard match from WrestleMania, which itself lasts 35 minutes.
As of now, there’s been no word that the taping has been cancelled, and it’s possible the match & segment will still go ahead. Stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com for any updates.
