Last week in the main event of NXT TV, Dexter Lumis defeated Finn Balor and Timothy Thatcher to earn a place in the North American Championship ladder match at NXT TakeOver: XXX later this month.
So far, Bronson Reed and Dexter Lumis have earned spots in the match, so it looks like the title match is going to showcase some of the NXT roster that hasn’t had the chance to shine thus far.
However, unfortunately for Lumis, he may be set to miss the biggest match of his career in WWE thus far, as an update has been posted regarding an injury he suffered on this week’s show:
WWE Digital has learned that the severity of the ankle injury suffered by Dexter Lumis is worse than previously reported.
In last week’s NXT Injury Report, it was revealed that Lumis had suffered an osteochondral lesion to the talus after a grueling battle with Finn Bálor and Timothy Thatcher for a North American Championship Match opportunity.
Lumis won the bout, but the growing severity of his ankle injury has raised some questions around Lumis’ status for the North American Championship Ladder Match at TakeOver XXX.
Catch WWE’s The Bump tomorrow morning on the award-winning WWE Network and WWE’s social platforms at 10 a.m. ET/ 7 a.m. PT for the latest on the developing situation.

There is no word on if this is a work or potentially even a legitimate injury at this time. For the latest updates, make sure you stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com.
In terms of other matches likely taking place at TakeOver, the winner of the Dakota Kai vs. Rhea Ripley match on this week’s show will likely face Io Shirai at the upcoming show.
