The final for the AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup tournament dubbed the ‘Deadly Draw’ is now set after the semi-finals aired tonight on YouTube.
The first of tonight’s semi-finals saw Brandi Rhodes and Allie – the Nightmare Sisters – up against Big & Lil Swole. In the first round, the Nightmare Sisters beat Penelope Ford & Mel, whereas the Swoles beat Leva Bates & Rache Chanel. The Nightmare Sisters advanced to the final after Britt Baker distracted Big Swole allowing Allie to pin Lil Swole after her finish.
In the second semi-final, Anna Jay of the Dark Order & Tay Conti took on Ivelisse & Diamante. Jay & Conti beat Ariane Andrew & Nyla Rose in the first round, while Ivelisse & Diamante defeated Rachael Ellering & Dasha Gonzalez.
Ivelisse & Diamante were victorious as Diamante pinned Conti after a double-team finisher which was basically an assisted Salida del Sol.
As was announced last week, the final will be taking place on the next episode of AEW Dynamite, which airs at 6pm ET (or whenever the NBA finishes) on Saturday, August 22.
Also set for Saturday’s Dynamite are Cody defending the TNT Title against Brodie Lee, the Young Bucks & Kenny Omega vs the Dark Order’s John Silver, Alex Reynolds & Alan Angels, FTR vs. Private Party, and the Butcher, the Blade & the Lucha Brothers vs the Natural Nightmares & Jurassic Express.
