Cody Rhodes was the victim of a violent attack at the end of AEW: Dynamite. He suffered the attack at the hands of Brodie Lee and The Dark Order shortly after losing the TNT Championship.
According to a report by PWInsider, Cody will be off television for several weeks to sell the attack. AEW has announced an update on his status for this Thursday’s Dynamite. This may mean he won’t have a match on AEW.
Mike Johnson is also speculating Cody’s time off may have something to do with a potential appearance in an upcoming television series. Stephen Amell, a longtime friend of Cody’s, is starring in STARZ Heels.
Supposedly, Amell specifically asked Cody to take part in the series. The timing appears to be matching up and could be related to a casting call that was made in the Georgia area last week.
AEW has also announced for Thursday:
- Contract Signing – AEW Champion Jon Moxley vs. MJF
- Tables Match: Sammy Guevara vs. Matt Hardy.
- AEW TNT Champion Brodie Lee’s title celebration.
- Gauntlet Match: Natural Nightmares vs. Young Bucks vs. Best Friends vs. FTR – Winners to challenge for AEW Tag Team Champions at All Out 2020 PPV.
- Big Swole vs. Dr. Britt Baker & Penelope Ford & Rebel – Handicap Match.
- Chris Jericho on commentary.
