Just a few hours after NJPW announced that Juice Robinson would go one-on-one with fellow former WWE star KENTA at Wrestle Kingdom 15 next month, the Japanese promotion has had to pull Juice from the bout.
Just hours after booking the match yesterday, NJPW was forced to release a statement confirming that Robinson will not be able to wrestle on the show due to suffering a fractured orbital bone. He also missed the Road to Tokyo event today.
Juice Robinson has sustained a fractured orbital bone and will not be able to compete on tonight’s Road to Tokyo Dome event or Wrestle Kingdom 15.
The following change has been made to tonight’s card in Korakuen Hall:
Juice Robinson & Toa Henare vs KENTA & Jay White
Satoshi Kojima & Toa Henare vs KENTA & Jay White
Further announcements on the status of KENTA’s Tokyo Dome opponent will be made in due course.
We apologise to fans who were looking forward to seeing Juice compete. We appreciate your understanding, and wish Juice the best in his recovery.
Some have speculated that this is actually a work, and is being done to set up a surprise appearance from AEW star Jon Moxley at Wrestle Kingdom. However, it seems unlikely that NJPW wouldn’t want to promote an appearance from Moxley ahead of time.
Obviously, we’d all like to wish Juice Robinson the best of luck with his nasty injury, which we hope to see him return from before too long.
