Former Ring of Honor World Champion and multi-time WWE World Champion CM Punk is said to have wanted to purchase ROH years ago.
Speaking on the ROH Strong podcast, the promotion’s former owner Cary Silkin claimed he received two “rinky-dink” offers for the promotion – one from Jerry Jarrett in 2007 and one from CM Punk in 2010.
Silkin said:
“I’ve hustled tickets on the street and have had a somewhat successful business. I don’t think text messaging is the way to approach sales of companies. That first text message might be, ‘I’d like to talk to you about something.’ Those were my only two real offers… they weren’t real.”
It’s interesting that Silkin said he wasn’t a fan of receiving an apparent offer from Punk via text considering Punk has recently criticised AEW for approaching him via text too.
