It is no secret that WWE star Daniel Bryan is highly regarded by his peers. However, you may not know that that extends far beyond the reach of just WWE. This is evident by the recent comments made by New Japan Pro Wrestling star Hiroshi Tanahashi.
In Tanahashi’s recent interview with njpw1972.com, he was asked about the time he wrestled Bryan (then known as Bryan Danielson or American Dragon) for the U-30 Championship in New Japan. He showed a lot of respect for him, saying he learned so much from wrestling him. Here is the quote:
“I remember that match, in Kobe World Hall! Danielson was just such a wrestler’s wrestler. To the very model; an orthodox opening, moving onto rope work, progressively bringing in bigger moves. He’s younger than me, but I was able to learn so much by wrestling him.”
Daniel Bryan wrestled over 100 matches for New Japan Pro Wrestling from 2002-2004. During this time he also worked for Ring of Honor where he became known as one of the best technical wrestlers in the business.
His match with Tanahashi on October 24, 2004, is the only singles match between them to date.
