Friday Night SmackDown star Otis entered the Royal Rumble match on Sunday at the #20 position, but the former Mr. Money in the Bank was not reportedly set to be part of the match.
Despite being announced for the match a few weeks before the Royal Rumble, Dave Meltzer noted on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that Otis was a “late addition” into the match, and wasn’t originally slated to take part.
At this stage, there is no word on why WWE made the decision to add Otis at the match at the last minute, but some have speculated that it could be linked to the fact a popular Raw star was removed from the match, which you can read about here.
The men’s Royal Rumble match won by Edge, with Dave Meltzer also reporting that WWE is planning on having the WWE Hall of Famer go on to challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 37 in April.
