A WWE Championship match for the February 29 episode of Raw has been confirmed following last night’s edition of the show.
The Miz cashed in Money in the Bank on Drew McIntyre at Elimination Chamber to win the title for a second time, and his first defence in this reign has now been confirmed.
Before Miz cashed in on Sunday, Bobby Lashley ambushed McIntyre following the Elimination Chamber match, and we now know why.
MVP had made a business arrangement with Miz that if Lashley attacked McIntyre and Miz cashed in, Lashley would be first in line for a title shot.
Miz tried to get out of it on Raw but to no avail, although Braun Strowman did enter himself into the equation too.
Strowman and Lashley had a match last night, which if Strowman won, he’d be added to next week’s title match.
Lashley actually beat Strowman and therefore will challenge The Miz for the WWE Championship in a singles match next week.
The expectation is that Lashley beats Miz after a report from WrestleVotes suggested that The Miz is not planned to be involved in the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania in April, but Lashley is.
The best bet right now would seem to be Lashley defending against McIntyre at WrestleMania so McIntyre can have the crowning moment in front of fans that he should have had last year.
