More information has been revealed surrounding Tony Khan’s interesting appearance on the first episode of AEW Dark: Elevation.
On the debut episode of AEW Dark: Elevation, AEW President Tony Khan showed up to book Kenny Omega in a match for a future edition of Dynamite.
His appearance made many fans apprehensive about Khan’s future on the other side of the camera. Previously noting that he didn’t want to become a regular character, his recent actions seemed to indicate the genesis of an on-screen authority figure.
According to Tony Schiavone, this is not the case. Schiavone took to Twitter to state that Khan still has no intention to get involved with the action on Dynamite.
Explaining that Omega has been out of control recently, Schiavone explained that Khan’s Elevation appearance was a one-off event.
Pointing out that Khan is the only person who can keep Omega in check, Schiavone tweeted:
“I know @TonyKhan very well. He never wants to take up TV time with an appearance, but needed to deliver a message tonight on #Elevation to an out-of-control Kenny Omega. He’s never done that on Dynamite and never intends to, but tonight he was the only one that could do it.@AEW“
This will be welcome news to fans who were dreading a regular on-screen authority figure on AEW programming.
Khan has recently been representing AEW during paid advertisements on IMPACT, but rarely appears on Dynamite or Dark. This angle seems to just be another way to show how powerful Omega and Don Callis are.
Khan has recently announced another AEW signing, which you can read about here.
