A new report has detailed the roles of extras during recent AEW tapings, and what goes a long way in the eyes of AEW management.
This week, AEW has been taping for a few shows. AEW extras (unsigned performers and trainees) have reportedly been playing key roles during the tapings.
As per Fightful Select (subscription required), extras were informed that their primary job was to cheer matches at ringside, unless they were wrestling during the tapings.
There was a rotation of extras going on throughout Wednesday night. Performers were told to prepare for their matches, then wear jackets over their gear to cheer at ringside, before being rotated out to get ready for the Dark and Dark: Elevation tapings.
It was reportedly stated that fulfilling all these acts would go a long way with AEW management, and may get them booked by the company in the future.
The performers that wrestled during the tapings were also given Q&A sheets to answer, so announcers and commentators could familiarise themselves with all the independent competitors.
As for COVID-19 precautions, extras had to provide negative nasal swab results. If the performers tested positive, they had to quarantine in Jacksonville at their own expense.
On AEW Dynamite last night, Orange Cassidy was legitimately hurt during his match with PAC. You can read the update on Cassidy’s condition here.
