Tamina has opened up about recently winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship on SmackDown, in a backstage video.
This week, Tamina and Natalya defeated Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler to become the new Women’s Tag Team titleholders. If you don’t include her 24/7 Championship reign, this was Tamina’s first WWE championship win since her 2010 debut.
In a WWE exclusive backstage video, Tamina got emotional as her side plates were added to her belt. She pointed out that a lot of competitors take title reigns for granted before noting that she’s grateful for every opportunity that comes her way.
Here is the full quote:
“I think a lot of people take it for granted, what it’s like to hold a championship title or to sit there and actually say that you are a champion. Now I can actually say I’m a champion. Man, I’m so grateful. I feel so grateful, so blessed. Just never giving up. Just keep on going forward and look at what happens, you get to achieve something you’ve always wanted to have. We did it. I couldn’t have done it without her, man. This is crazy. So grateful. I’m so happy.”

Tamina had previously competed for the Divas, SmackDown Women’s and Women’s Tag Team Championships, but had never held a women’s title in WWE until her recent victory. She briefly won the 24/7 Championship at Hell in a Cell 2019, before losing it to R-Truth on the same night.
Natalya and Tamina unsuccessfully challenged for the titles at WrestleMania 37. According to a new report, there is a reason for Tamina’s sudden push.
