Eddie Kingston has recalled the major explosion botch following the exploding barbed wire deathmatch at AEW Revolution.
Kingston heroically ran down to the ring to shield Jon Moxley from the explosion at Revolution in March. When the timer hit zero, the pyrotechnics failed, so only a small bang followed the tense countdown.
Kingston has recently recalled his thoughts during the unfortunate botch. Speaking in a Q&A session for AdFreeShows, Kingston stated that he was extremely mad, and people backstage knew it.
Explaining what went through his head as Revolution went off air, Kingston said:
“What went through my head was, ‘what the f**k was that?’ That’s what went through my head. Then, I was calm in the back. I won’t give you inside baseball, that’s not my style, but I was real mad and people knew about it.”
A number of explanations were given for the spot on the following episode of AEW Dynamite. Kingston’s anxiety was cited as the reason he was unconscious following the small explosion.
At Double or Nothing on Sunday, Kingston and Moxley will challenge for The Young Bucks’ AEW Tag Team Championship. Kenny Omega will defend his AEW World Championship against Orange Cassidy and PAC in a three-way match.
