WWE & AEW Planning To Turn Roman Reigns & Kenny Omega Babyface

WWE and AEW are planning to turn Roman Reigns and Kenny Omega respectively into their company’s biggest babyfaces, it has emerged.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that while Kenny Omega is portraying a heel right now, AEW intends on turning him back into a babyface, saying:

In time, Kenny Omega is doing this heel turn to come back and turn and be a big babyface, whenever that will be in a year or whatever…with Kenny hurting, I don’t know when that will be.”

Meltzer then noted that the same is true for Roman Reigns. Despite being one of the most over heels in wrestling with his Tribal Chief character, Meltzer is reporting that WWE is planning on turning Reigns back into a babyface.

“Roman Reigns and Kenny Omega are essentially the same character in the sense that they are heels who are being groomed to be the top babyface star down the line of the promotion. AEW is at least trying to book in a way to make the matches exciting and WWE is trying to book Roman Reigns and tell you ‘eh it doesn’t matter, he’s gonna kill the guy.’”

WrestlingNews.co have elaborated on this report, noting that Vince McMahon sees Roman Reigns as “his top priority” and wants to protect him “at all costs”. This is why Roman has not been seen as a typical WWE heel that needs help to win matches:

Vince doesn’t want to portray Roman as a cowardly heel who gets his ass kicked 50 percent of the time. He’s the guy who will carry the company for the next few years and Vince sees him as his top priority. Protect Roman at all costs.”
