Despite some of his recent actions, AEW President and CEO Tony Khan has reiterated that he doesn’t want to be a character on AEW TV.
Khan has been appearing on IMPACT for months now, as well as the occasional promo on AEW’s YouTube shows or on social media.
However, speaking on Pardon My Take, he said:
“I’ve done stuff on other wrestling shows that kind of promote AEW and cross-over. But that’s kind of the line I don’t want to cross, because I feel like you disappear up your own butt when you start writing that way.”
One of the more notable social media promos was directed at WWE President Nick Khan following reports there had been interactions between WWE and NJPW about potentially working together or sharing talent.
Tony Khan seems adamant that he doesn’t want to be an authority figure character, but a lot of people believe it’s only a matter of time nonetheless.
