Raw Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley has commented on criticisms she frequently hears about her current WWE character.
Since the Raw after WrestleMania 37, Ripley and Charlotte Flair have been engaged in a rivalry over the Red Brand’s top women’s title. At Hell in a Cell, Ripley retained the Raw Women’s Championship by getting herself disqualified.
Some fans have criticised Ripley’s character for not being clearly defined as a face or a heel. According to Ripley, she is currently doing the same thing as she was in NXT.
Speaking with Graham Matthews of Bleacher Report, Ripley named Stone Cold as an example of a wrestler who is loved for being an antihero. firing back at her critics, Ripley said:
“People just have to pick one. It’s the same with Stone Cold. Was he really going out being such a nice guy? No, he wasn’t, and people loved him for it, so I don’t see why people are getting so angry about my feud with Charlotte and getting so confused over it when I’m pretty much doing the same thing I was doing in NXT and people loved me for it. I don’t believe there should be designated faces and heels. People should go out there and do their thing and you choose whether you like that person or not.”
At Money in the Bank tonight, Ripley will defend her Raw Women’s Championship once again against Charlotte Flair.
According to recent betting odds, Alexa Bliss is considered the favorite to become Ms Money in the Bank during the pay-per-view. Earlier this week, Bliss showed off a temporary new look on Instagram.
