Well it was going to happen eventually, wasn’t it? Goldberg made his return to WWE this past week to let WWE Champion Bobby Lashley know that he’s next, setting up a match between the two men at SummerSlam.
If you thought that was it for the build, then I’m afraid there’s plenty more Goldberg where that one came from.
He is currently advertised for both the August 2 and August 16 episodes of Raw, the latter being the SummerSlam go home show.
The last time we saw Goldberg wrestle was at this year’s Royal Rumble, where he lost to former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre.
As Goldberg’s WWE contract only requires him to wrestle twice a year, many assume Lashley will be coming out of SummerSlam still the WWE Champion, as old Bill won’t have any more matches on his contract for this year.
If Goldberg’s role has changed from winning titles to putting over champions, I think more fans will find his biannual visits to WWE much more watchable.
