The news of Bray Wyatt’s WWE release took the wrestling world by surprise when it broke earlier today (July 31).
One person who was not happy was former WWE and current NWA star Mickie James, who responded to WWE’s announcement on her Twitter account, saying:
“I think what you meant to say was: ‘Thank you so much for coming up with such an incredible gimmick (time & time again) one so cool & over, we really didn’t know how to book it right,” James wrote. “So we just gave it to someone else so we can still make ALL the money off of it & let you go.”
The ‘someone else’ in question is of course Alexa Bliss, who has gone on to portray her own version of the character in recent months. Mickie posted a follow up Tweet, clarifying that she meant no disrespect to Bliss in her rant. She said:
“This isn’t against Alexa. I love her. She’s an incredible performer who is killing it in a role she was given. She always does. We as artists take every role we’re given & turn it into gold. He, she, they both did that. Like it/not. Facts are facts. So sorry if that offends you.”
Mickie James is currently set to face Deonna Purrazzo at NWA Empowerrr for the IMPACT Knockouts Championship.
