Matt Hardy has discussed his position in AEW, noting that he has his fingers crossed that Jeff Hardy, will eventually join the promotion.
Matt and Jeff Hardy haven’t wrestled together since the April 9, 2019 edition of SmackDown. Matt would sign with AEW in March 2020, after his WWE contract expired.
Speaking on the Adam’s Apple YouTube Channel, Matt stated that one of AEW President Tony Khan knows how to utilize everyone in the locker room. Hopeful that Jeff will one day make the jump to AEW, Matt said:
“Tony Khan is great, I think he’s really on the pulse of pro wrestling in 2021, and he knows how to utilize everyone from top to bottom. They’re keeping older guys, or veterans so to say and utilizing them right while also building up talent. Wins and losses matter and they’re really taking a sports-centered approach that even I had to get used to.”
(On the possibility of Jeff Hardy signing with AEW) “Fingers crossed, man!”
Jeff is currently part of the Raw roster. On Monday’s show, he unsuccessfully challenged Damian Priest for the US Championship.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Jeff’s current WWE deal will expire at the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023, however WWE has reportedly renegotiated a number of contracts in recent months.
