Here is the latest on the status of Kenny Omega, who has been out of action since the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view in November.
Following Hangman Page’s AEW Championship win, it was reported that Omega would be taking time off to undergo multiple surgeries.
After Kyle O’Reilly’s debut at Dynamite: Holiday Bash, a rivalry was teased between the former Undisputed Era and The Young Bucks, leading some fans to speculate that Omega will reunite with Matt & Nick Jackson for a dream trios match.
As per the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is still no firm timetable for Omega’s return to the ring.
It had been reported that AEW’s goal is to have him return in February 2022, however Tony Khan has reportedly told Omega to take as much time as he needs.
Omega was forced to relinquish his AAA Mega Championship ahead of his surgeries, after holding the title for 765 days. Hijo Del Vikingo won the vacant gold at TripleMania Regia on December 4.
Vikingo is set to defend the title against John Hennigan (fka WWE’s John Morrison) at Rey De Reyes in February. Omega previously stated that he’s going to head back to Mexico for a shot at the championship when he’s healthy.
