Former Divas Champion Paige has reacted to her name trending on Twitter, ahead of Royal Rumble 2022.
On Friday’s (January 7) episode of SmackDown, 19 names were announced for the upcoming women’s over-the-top contest, confirming multiple WWE returns.
Following the announcement, fans took to Twitter to speculate about potential surprise appearances for January 29. A portion of the fanbase discussed the possibility of Paige’s in-ring return, so much so that her name was trending on Twitter for a short time.
On Twitter, Paige noted that she thinks it’s awesome that so many people still miss her in WWE. Pointing out that her name often hits the trending tab during Royal Rumble season, Paige tweeted:
“Wait I was trending again? I mean, it is January.
“I tell ya what though, it does feel fucking awesome to see so many people even after 4 years, miss me wrestling.”
Paige hasn’t wrestled since the December 2017 Madison Square Garden show. Following a severe neck injury, the former Divas Champion retired from in-ring competition in April 2018.
In September 2021, Paige revealed that her current WWE deal is set to expire in June 2022. The former wrestler teased her return to the ring a number of times last year, previously noting that she’s ‘not done yet’.
