It was previously reported that Gunther (the former WALTER) and NXT Champion Bron Breakker are scheduled to be at Saturday’s Royal Rumble event.
Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, several men and women from the NXT roster are set to be in St Louis this weekend.
Meltzer noted that WWE is most likely using some of these names as alternates, pointing out that there is a chance that previously announced names may be unable to compete due to COVID-19 protocols.
Meltzer said:
“I don’t know if they’re gonna be in the Rumble, but I do know that several NXT men and women are scheduled to be there. I don’t know if they are there to be in the Rumble, or there to be alternates.
“Because if they have 30 people in the Rumble, you’d better, in this day and age, have three alternates, because there’s a good chance that several people will be sick come the day of the show.
“But I know Bron Breakker and Gunther are going, and probably are in the Rumble.
“I don’t know the women – I believe Raquel Gonzalez, but I think a couple of the women are at least supposed to go there and probably be in the Rumble, because getting 30 women is not easy.
“They’ve asked a lot of people that they just released to come back for the Rumble because they don’t have 30 women.”
