The owner of a professional rugby club has shared a photo with Shane McMahon, discussing a future WWE partnership.
Marco Masotti, the owner of South African rugby team The Sharks, appears to be in business with WWE. Mascotti took to Twitter with a photo of himself with Florida Panthers co-owner Doug Cifu, and Shane McMahon. Commenting on a potential partnership, Mascotti wrote:
“So grateful for a night out with brothers Shane McMahon (son of WWE Vince) and Doug Cifu (co-owner of Florida Panthers). Excited for a partnership between WWE and rugby.”
Shane McMahon was reportedly quietly let go from WWE, who had major backstage heat for his attempts to book the men’s Royal Rumble. Mascotti’s post suggests that McMahon could still be working for WWE in some capacity, away from WWE TV and creative.
It had been reported that McMahon’s departure affected several plans for WrestleMania 38, as McMahon was originally scheduled to compete at the Show of Shows. WWE has reportedly already decided on McMahon’s WrestleMania replacement.
McMahon last wrestled for WWE during last month’s Royal Rumble match. Check out our list of Royal Rumble 2022 records and stats at this link.
