CM Punk has now responded to Hangman Page’s passionate promo from Wednesday’s (May 4) edition of Dynamite.
On this week’s show, Page vowed to destroy CM Punk during their AEW World Championship match at Double or Nothing.
Referencing Punk’s recent homages to the Hitman, Page told fans that their May 29 encounter won’t be a ‘masturbatory Bret Hart tribute match’.
Page might’ve just sealed his fate, with Punk now taking to Twitter to indicate that he plans to win the AEW World Title with Hart’s signature submission:
Destroy? Sharpshooter it is.
Punk has paid tribute to Hart numerous times during his AEW career. In his most recent match, against Dustin Rhodes on the April 20 edition of Dynamite, Punk paid homage to a 1997 clash between Hart and Dustin, as Goldust.
Since making his AEW in-ring debut, Punk has only lost one match, against MJF in February.
