There was a shocking heel turn on AEW Dynamite last night, and it came from Swerve Strickland in the Casino Battle Royale.
During the course of the Casino Battle Royale, Swerve Strickland turned on his lovable tag team partner Keith Lee and eliminated him from the match.
In case that wasn’t enough, Strickland’s turn was cemented when he dumped out another fan-favorite in the form of Darby Allin later on in proceedings.
And afterwards, Strickland took to Twitter to refer to Keith Lee as “dead weight”, as you can see below.
Strickland and Lee had recently unsuccessfully challenged for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at Double Or Nothing in a three-way against Powerhouse Hobbs & Ricky Starks and champions Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus.
The Casino Battle Royale was ultimately won by Kyle O’Reilly, who went on to lose to Jon Moxley in the show’s main event, meaning Moxley will face either Hiroshi Tanahashi or Hirooki Goto at Forbidden Door to crown the Interim AEW World Champion.
