According to a new report, WWE name and current SmackDown ring announcer Mike Rome is now set to move to WWE NXT.
The April 26 edition of WWE SmackDown and the April 29 episode of WWE Raw featured the WWE Draft 2024 with stars moving to different brands.
However, it seems like it is not only the wrestlers who are jumping to brand new brands, but it is also ring announcers who are moving to new shows.
Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update on an additional move following the WWE Draft, noting that sources within WWE indicate that SmackDown ring announcer Mike Rome is set to make his move to NXT for ring announcing duties.
The report notes that Rome may begin his ring announcing duties on the NXT brand as soon as the April 30 episode.
Mike Rome originally served as NXT’s ring announcer from 2016 to 2019 after signing with WWE in 2016. He then moved to Monday Night Raw as the ring announcer from 2019 to 2023 before jumping to SmackDown last year.
It is unknown what will come next for current NXT ring announcer Alicia Taylor at the time of this writing.
WrestleTalk will provide any further updates on Mike Rome’s status on WWE NXT when they become available.
