Hikaru Shida has commented on Thunder Rosa stepping down as AEW Women’s World Champion which changed the plans for AEW All Out.
In a new interview with Sports Illustrated, an AEW star has commented that they are ‘surprised’ that Thunder Rosa stepped down as champion.
Shida, is now in the AEW Women’s World Championship title hunt after the change to the previously scheduled match between Thunder Rosa and Toni Storm.
Now a fatal four way match between Toni Storm, Hikaru Shida, Jamie Hayter and Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. will occur at AEW All out to establish an interim AEW Women’s World Champion.
Still the longest reigning AEW Women’s champ in company history, when asked if she was surprised that Thunder Rosa stepped down, Shida said;
“Yes, I was surprised. It is a huge opportunity and responsibility. It still is. For me, I want to show my skill whenever I am in the ring. The Regina di Wave title match meant so much to me because I need to be great every night as champion. I want to be an international champion for AEW, and I want to be even more aggressive when I have the crowd behind me.”
