The quarterfinal matches for the NJPW World TV Championship tournament are now set, following the October 26 Battle Autumn event.
During Wednesday’s show, the final two first round matches took place, with Toru Yano facing Great-O-Khan, and Tomohiro Ishii facing Ren Narita.
Yano was victorious in his bout with O-Khan following interference from the legendary Great Muta. Narita also advanced after pinning Ishii in his bout.
The tournament quarterfinals will commence on the October 27 Battle Autumn show, with YOSHI-HASHI vs EVIL and David Finlay vs Zack Sabre Jr.
Other quarterfinal bouts set include KENTA vs SANADA and Toru Yano vs Ren Narita.
The NJPW WORLD TV Championship tournament matches are contested under 15 minute time limits, with decisions decided via coin toss if the time limit expires.
the tournament final will take place at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4, 2023, with the winner to become the inaugural NJPW World TV Champion.
The main event for Wrestle Kingdom 17 has already been confirmed, with G1 Climax tournament winner Kazuchika Okada slated to challenge for Jay White’s IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. White notably defeated Okada for the gold at NJPW Dominion.
NJPW has now issued an ultimatum to NEVER Openweight Champion Karl Anderson, who has bookings with both NJPW and WWE on November 5.
