Wardlow is currently the reigning AEW TNT Champion, defeating Scorpio Sky to capture the title back in June.
This came off the back of the culmination of his big story with MJF that took place at AEW Double or Nothing, when Wardlow pinned MJF in short order with a Powerbomb.
The split between MJF and his former bodyguard took place during MJF’s Dog Collar match with CM Punk back at the Revolution pay-per-view that February, when he placed MJF’s Dynamite Diamond Ring on the apron instead of handing it to MJF.
This moment came after Wardlow had already won the Revolution Ladder match earlier in the night. Wardlow spoke about the moment with the ESPR Podcast, claiming the moment to be the biggest moment of his career.
He said:
“That was possibly the best moment of my career, which is crazy because earlier that night, I won the Revolution ladder match, and that was the biggest moment of my career, and felt amazing. So it’s crazy that was overshadowed by this moment because when I sat that ring down, and I turned around and walked back up the ramp, the reaction from the crowd was so powerful. I just knew in that moment that we did it. Like we did it, and this is going to be bigger than I ever imagined.”
Wardlow seems set for a big meaty man clash with Powerhouse Hobbs for his TNT Championship, likely at the upcoming Full Gear pay-per-view.
