AEW star Ricky Starks has opened up about his relationship with William Regal, following Regal’s departure from the promotion.
Following Regal’s most recent AEW appearance, in a pre-taped segment on the December 7 edition of Dynamite, the wrestling veteran is set to return to WWE.
The popular star will rejoin the company in a backstage position in the new year.
Speaking with Inside The Ropes, Starks admitted that he’s sad that Regal has left AEW.
Noting that he saw Regal as another mentor figure, Starks said:
“No one knows but Regal knew me when I first started back in early 2012 up until this point.
“I had known him, kept in contact, always saw him, he has seen my potential, my growth.
“I was sad to see him leave, for sure. That’s just how it goes in this business sadly, but yeah, he was another guy that I would ask (questions to) and talk to.”
Starks last wrestled at the December 14 ‘Winter Is Coming’ edition of Dynamite, unsuccessfully challenging for MJF’s AEW World Championship.
