Chris Jericho has now recalled some scrapped plans for his ROH World Championship defence at the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view.
During the November 19 show, Jericho defended the gold against Claudio Castagnoli, Bryan Danielson and Sammy Guevara.
Less than a month later at the December 10 ROH Final Battle event, Castagnoli defeated Jericho to win back the gold.
Previous reports indicated that the original plan was for Castagnoli to win the ROH World Championship at Full Gear.
Jericho confirmed this on his Talk Is Jericho podcast, stating that he was originally set to face Castagnoli in singles action at the AEW event.
Also revealing other nixed ideas for the Full Gear ROH World Title bout, Jericho said:
“The cool thing was the idea originally was to do me and Claudio (Castagnoli) at Full Gear.
“One other idea was to do me and Bryan (Danielson) at Full Gear for the Ring of Honor Title and then Tony (Khan) had the idea of a three-way, Bryan versus Claudio versus Jericho.
“We still weren’t quite feeling it and then Tony, once again — he really is a smart guy. He won the Booker of the Year for a reason.
“He came up with the idea of putting Sammy (Guevara) in there and making it a four-way. Now we have to figure out how that works storyline-wise and we got it.”
