A championship match has been announced for the January 4 edition of AEW Dynamite.
On the December 28 New Year’s Smash edition of AEW Dynamite, Samoa Joe defeated Wardlow to retain the TNT Championship.
After the bout, the self-proclaimed “King of Television” added insult to injury by cutting the challenger’s hair. However, Darby Allin then came out to attack Joe with a skateboard and stand tall with his title.
AEW President and CEO Tony Khan posted on Twitter to announce that Samoa Joe will defend the TNT Championship against Darby Allin on the January 4 edition of Dynamite. He tweeted:
Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite

The show will take place from Seattle, Washington, which is Darby’s hometown. Next week’s episode is also being billed as the start of a “New Era” of AEW Dynamite.
The first Dynamite of 2023 will also feature Chris Jericho vs. Ricky Starks for the first time ever.
