A top WWE star has called for the WWE Universal Championship to split up and returned to their respective shows.
Roman Reigns has held the unified championship since WrestleMania 28, defeating Brock Lesnar to win the WWE Championship and unify it with his Universal Championship.
Since then, Reigns has been the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and shows no signs of being unseated any time soon.
Speaking to Pro Wrestling Illustrated, Drew McIntyre addressed the title unification, saying:
“I wanna get a title in front of live fans.
“I had it for 300 days with nobody there.”
McIntyre defeated Brock Lesnar to win the WWE Championship at the no-crowd WrestleMania 26 in 2020.
Speaking about Roman Reigns as the champion, McIntyre said:
“Obviously Clash [at the Castle] would have been an awesome moment if I was able to pull it off.
“Roman’s on this run of a lifetime right now. Curious to see where that goes.”
McIntyre was unsuccessful in his bid to defeat Reigns at the September 3 2022 event held in Cardiff, Wales.
Looking to the future, however, McIntyre suggested:
“Ideally we’ll get those titles separated back on their respective shows and back on the live events and all over.
“But can’t deny what Roman’s done with them and how he’s representing [WWE] as champion.”
Roman Reigns is next scheduled to defend the championship at Elimination Chamber against Sami Zayn.
