A NJPW star has won the top title in All Japan Pro Wrestling.
New Japan Pro Wrestling has been embracing collaboration with other companies in the United States and in Japan. Besides working with Japanese promotions like STARDOM and Pro Wrestling NOAH, some of their stars have been appearing in other companies.
Former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yuji Nagata has been appearing AJPW and faced Kento Miyahara for the AJPW Triple Crown Championship.
At AJPW Excite Series: Excite MANIAx, Nagata defeated Miyahara for the Triple Crown Championship. This ended Kento Miyahara’s 154 day reign after four successful defenses.
This is Nagata’s first reign as Triple Crown Champion. He becomes only the fifth man to hold AJPW’s Triple Crown Championship, NJPW’s IWGP Heavyweight Championship and Pro Wrestling NOAH’s GHC Heavyweight Championship.
The other men to hold these three top titles were Kensuke Sasaki, Yoshihiro Takayama, Satoshi Kojima and Keiji Muto.
