UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier has never been shy about his affinity for professional wrestling.
Cormier appeared for WWE at last year’s Extreme Rules premium live event, serving as the special guest referee for Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle’s Fight Pit main event.
Cormier also works for ESPN, where he covered UFC 285 last weekend, and he now has the opportunity to cover WrestleMania.
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, he said:
“I’m going to WrestleMania. The first week of April for ESPN, I’ll be leading the coverage for WrestleMania. I’m so excited about it.”
Cormier noted that he is open to wrestling down the line, but for now he is happy with the commentary opportunities he’s been given by ESPN.
He added:
“I’m getting more opportunities for ESPN, and I’m so thankful for that. So I’ll be at WrestleMania, just in a different capacity, and we’ll see what the future holds down the line.”
When Cormier appeared for WWE last year, speculation arose about him potentially meeting back up with Brock Lesnar, and the two potentially facing off in a match in WWE.
Cormier spoke about Lesnar, joking that he would ‘smack him upside his head’ if he stepped in his way, saying:
“If Brock steps in my way? I’ll smack him upside his head.”
