A top NJPW star has been added to Kazuchika Okada’s team at NJPW Wrestling Dontaku.
At NJPW Sakura Genesis, SANADA defeated Kazuchika Okada to win the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
Since this loss, Okada has become focused on exploring tag team wrestling with his frequent partnership with former rival Hiroshi Tanahashi.
Okada is now set to challenge Ren Narita, El Desperado and Minoru Suzuki of Strong Style for the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championships at NJPW Wrestling Dontaku on May 3.
In this bout, “The Rainmaker” was able to choose his tag team partners with his first choice being fellow CHAOS member Tomohiro Ishii. The final member of the team was a mystery for the past few weeks.
On the April 30 Road to Wrestling Dontaku show, Okada revealed that his final partner was none other than Hiroshi Tanahashi. This was a bit surprising with “The Ace” suffering an injury at Capital Collision that has kept him out of action.
This announcement did not please Ishii who believed Okada should have chosen another CHAOS teammate to complete his trio.
Okada: Thanks for waiting, champs. I will now announce who the X is. There have been a lot of people I've been talking to abroad and Japan, but there could only be one. He said it on Twitter today- Hiroshi Tanahashi
