The July 15 AEW Battle of Belts saw many fans miss the finish of the AEW Women’s World Championship match thanks to thunderstorms.
As previously reported, an apparent satellite issue due to the poor weather caused a feed outage leaving many fans unable to see the final moments of Toni Storm defending her AEW Women’s World Championship against Taya Valkyrie.
It was also announced that the match will be able to view in full on the TNT app.
Dave Meltzer has now revealed the interaction he had with Tony Khan over the missed finish.
Addressing the subject on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer stated:
“I sent a message to Tony Khan, because remember when they came back, they didn’t tell people the finish. I think they thought people knew the finish.
“They came back, and they were doing this match, and they went to the next thing.
“And I said, ‘You’ve got to tell the people who won that match, because we don’t know, and if you get chance, you should put the finish on’, which they did end up putting the finish on right at the end of the show.”

That is actually exactly what happened with a replay at the end of the show , but of course, it’s entirely possible the decision was made regardless of the suggestion from Meltzer.
Tonight’s complete Battle of the Belts VII that was interrupted by a hail storm in Calgary will available in full including the #AEW Women’s Title match #ToniStorm vs @thetayavalkyrie on the TNT app West Coast feed @ 10pm PT / 1am ET.
