A backstage video from NXT Great American Bash 2023 has shown North American Champion Dominik Mysterio and Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley mock the next potential challenger for Dom’s title.
The video (see below) first shows Dragon Lee celebrating alongside Nathan Frazer, Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz following their victory over the Meta-Four (Noam Dar, Oro Mensah, Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend) during the Great American Bash pre-show.
Afterwards, Lee makes his way up the corridor backstage, only to be greeted by a very snarky ‘Dirty’ Dom and Ripley, who proceed to mock Lee for being a wannabe version of Rey Mysterio.
Dragon Lee fired back saying he would be proud to be compared to the Hall of Famer, while Dom would say he’s the only one making the Mysterio name relevant.
Considering Dom went on to defend his North American Championship successfully against Mustafa Ali and Wes Lee later in the night, a feud with Dragon Lee appears to be next on the cards.
Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee recently shared a meaningful exchange backstage at the July 21 SmackDown, so things certainly seem to be pointing in the direction of Lee challenging Dom, and perhaps the master of the 619 could also step into corner of the former AAA star to even the odds.
Following the controversial nature of Dom’s victory at Great American Bash, his ‘Mami’, Ripley, has posted a message on Twitter, paying homage to a late WWE Hall of Famer – click here for more.

It would be amazing to see Dragon Lee be the one to dethrone Dominik Mysterio as NXT North American Champion, IMO.#NXTGAB pic.twitter.com/FzJ7KT5ZSC
