Kevin Owens has revealed the real reason why he stayed with WWE.
In 2021, there were questions surrounding Kevin Owens and his long-term status with WWE as his contract was set to expire. However, Owens decided to re-sign with the promotion for reportedly $2-3 million before the end of the year.
Since then, KO has been an even more prominent member of the WWE roster, headlining two WrestleManias and currently holding the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships with long-time best friend Sami Zayn.
Speaking with Ariel Helwani of TNT Sports, Kevin Owens revealed that he decided to stay with WWE because Vince McMahon wanted him to, and he felt like he had more to do in the company. He stated:
“I had idea how badly they [WWE] wanted me to stay here, I had no idea what was possible elsewhere, I had no clue. And honestly… none of the talks went very far.”
“Because once it was time to talk to Vince, he made it clear he wanted me to stay. And I felt like I wasn’t done here. Not even career-wise but there’s also a whole side to this place that people don’t see, that people don’t know.”
As previously reported, Kevin Owens is currently out of action with a rib injury that has forced him to miss WWE SummerSlam 2023 this Saturday.
